My name is taylor: lover of fonts, snakes, & coffee.
Over the last decade I've developed a motto to give a focus to my work, as there's more to this than making something pretty: it's a mindset that pushes past intrinsic beauty, and helps a form follow its function.
“Beauty with purpose.”
I unknowingly began my design career around the age of 12 while using the social media platform Xanga. As I learned to design and code my own web page, I began to understand the importance of hierarchy, font choice, style, and ease of use. Eventually, I began to create web page designs for friends and other users.
I went to college to pursue a degree in Music Composition, but spent my first year learning Adobe After Effects and animation. I published a kinetic typography music video and garnered thousands of views before I ever wrote a single piece of music. I dropped out of the music program after that year and began my pursuit of art and design, with the goal of becoming a graphic designer. After two years of building my portfolio for selective admissions, I was one of 20 selected into the competitive Graphic Design program. Over the next 2 years, I created one of the strongest design portfolios out of the program and graduated at the top of my class.
Throughout my career I've explored many design mediums: animation, photography, videography, advertising, catalog creation, book design, digital and web, marketing pieces, technical documents, and more.
